CHALLENGE
How can we bring closer together Hungarians living in different parts of the Carpathian Basin — and even around the world?
How can those living far from the homeland preserve their Hungarian identity?
And how can we present our national values? Together with the State Secretariat for National Policy, we set out to find answers to these questions.

SOLUTION
The first step of our collaboration was the development of the kulhonimagyarok.hu website and the design of a comprehensive visual identity, followed by the launch of the Külhoni Magyarok Facebook page and later its Instagram presence. Our team managed the content of these platforms across multiple periods. We deliberately focused on themes — holidays, traditions, and the stories of world-famous Hungarians — that connect us, no matter where in the world we live.
This objective is also served by the Through Hungarian Eyes photography competition, which the State Secretariat has launched three times since 2021. The themes and categories of the competitions were aligned with the thematic years of the Hungarian Standing Conference (MÁÉRT): in 2021 the focus was on new beginnings, in 2023 on motherhood, and in 2024 on cooperation. The photographs selected by the professional jury were presented in visually striking outdoor exhibitions.
In 2022, participants could also apply to an architecture competition and a video competition — the latter inviting dialogue between younger and older generations.
RESULTS
Today, the Külhoni Magyarok Facebook page has 60,000 followers, and the photography competitions have engaged several thousand people across borders — the 2021 competition alone received a record 10,000 photographs. All of this has contributed to strengthening the bond between Hungarians living in the homeland and those living in different parts of the world.
