FREE BY ITS NATURE

Carola Association

Baroness Elemérné Bornemissza, née Carola Szilvássy, is a significant yet little-known female figure in Transylvanian history. While the documentary film about her life—enriched with elements of feature filmmaking—was highly anticipated in Transylvania, in Hungary only a few people knew who Carola was. That had to change.

CHALLANGE

Through the eventful and dramatic life story of Carola Szilvássy, the documentary portrays the cultural and social life of Transylvania at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, marked by historical turmoil and tragedy. Our key task was to generate interest not only in the film itself, but also in its protagonist ahead of the national television premiere.

SOLUTION

We promoted the television premiere of the film with systematic press and social media communication. Since very few visual materials survived from Carola Szilvássy’s lifetime, we had to employ diverse creative tools when creating posts. We enriched the social media campaign with a series of thematic posts—sharing behind-the-scenes insights from filming and research, while also presenting exciting chapters from Carola’s eventful life.

At the gala premiere of Free by Its Nature (A maga természete szerint és szabadon), we recorded short interviews with the filmmakers. These were used in PR-focused short films and attached to the press materials promoting the television broadcast.

RESULT

The film attracted press coverage already during the filming stage, and by the time of the television premiere nearly 100 media appearances had been generated. Promotional pieces for the film appeared not only in major national tabloids but also in leading women’s magazines.
